Mack Leftwich’s offense is just so much fun so far for the Texas Tech Red Raiders. So much fun. I mean, it’s just a blast watching the Red Raiders effortlessly move up and down the field with such good tempo and to score with ease.
Yes, I get that this is against an FCS opponent. I’m very much so aware of the fact that the Red Raiders are playing the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions. But still, what the Red Raiders are accomplishing right now with Leftwich as the offensive coordinator and Morton as Texas Tech’s quarterback is just so enjoyable to sit back and watch.
It also helps when the Red Raiders are able to pair that same sort of great offense with a defense that is also performing in a pretty solid way. Or a special teams unit that is able to go out and block punts, which sets the Red Raiders up with pretty impressive field position.
That’s all good.
And it leads to even quicker scores for Leftwich’s offense.
Behren Morton tosses 21-yard touchdown pass to Terrance Carter Jr. as Texas Tech Red Raiders continue to pummel Arkansas-Pine Bluff
In just one play, after taking advantage of a blocked punt thanks to the athleticism of Mikal Harrison-Pilot, the Red Raiders were able to get another touchdown pass from Morton. This time, with a 21-yard pass, Morton connected with Terrance Carter Jr. and (following a successful point after attempt) put the Red Raiders up 14-0.

It’s just a ton of fun watching this team operate. Again, yes, early in the season. Again, yes, this is an opponent that is very clearly outmatched in terms of talent.
But still, it’s great to see the Red Raiders doing exactly what they’re supposed to be doing when facing a team like the Golden Lions. Texas Tech is supposed to handle a team like Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
And that’s exactly what’s happening for the Red Raiders so far in this game.
