It is amazing how one game can change the perspective that many people have on a player. That's what's happening with Patrick Mahomes II after he played poorly in Super Bowl LIX on Sunday night.

As the Kansas City Chiefs were dismantled by the Philadelphia Eagles 40-22 in front of a record television audience, Mahomes had perhaps the worst game of his professional career. He threw for only 257 yards and two touchdowns while turning the ball over three times, including two crushing first-half interceptions.

In fact, it was in the first half of the Super Bowl when Mahomes struggled like never before on the biggest stage. He completed just six of 14 passes for 33 yards in the first half to have a passer rating of just 10.7. Had he finished with that passer rating, it would have been the fourth-worst by a QB in Super Bowl history.

Many people were thrilled to see Mahomes struggle. There is no denying that a huge section of football fans have grown tired of seeing Mahomes and the Chiefs win big.

What's more, thanks to his status as one of the most utilized pitch men in the country, Mahomes is unavoidable even when football isn't on the air. Therefore, the Mahomes fatigue is real.

However, the other side of the equation is that he is the best quarterback in the game. Those who still see him that way were quick to point out that Mahomes faced insurmountable challenges against the Eagles.

Despite the fact that Philadelphia blitzed zero times in Super Bowl LIX, they were able to generate tremendous pressure on Mahomes sacking him six times and hitting him eleven more times. No quarterback who has ever played the game would have been able to lead his team to a win under those circumstances.

Thus, a national debate is now raging among football fans. Did Super Bowl LIX prove that Mahomes was over rated or should the blowout loss be pinned on the players surrounding him?
