The 2003 Texas Tech football season was full of fantastic moments and thrilling accomplishments. I mean, we’re talking about a year that produced one of the most impressive passing attacks college football has ever seen and it all took place out in Lubbock under the leadership of Mike Leach, one of the most innovative and unique coaches college football has ever seen.
We’ve already talked about how Wes Welker was able to put together a couple of seasons in which he managed to record over 1000 receiving yards. Now we’re going to talk a bit about how Welker wasn’t the only receiving threat to put together a 1000 yard receiving season back in 2003.
In 2003, Nehemiah Glover (which is one of the coolest names I’ve ever heard) had a very prolific season that included catching 77 passes and turning those receptions into 1081 yards and nine touchdowns for the Red Raiders.

In Leach’s Air Raid, Glover was a true threat in space. Glover was also reliable and consistent as he had four games with over 100 receiving yards, but he never had any games where he had under 40 yards receiving.
Against New Mexico, Glover had 116 yards and a score. A couple weeks later, Glover then caught eight passes for 106 yards against NC State.
His next 100+ yard receiving game happened in the back half of the season as he caught five passes for 132 yards (and a touchdown) against the Baylor Bears. Then against Navy in a bowl game, Glover had nine receptions for 116 yards and a touchdown.
One of his most impressive games of the year came against the Texas A&M AGgies as he caught a half dozen passes for 97 yards and three touchdowns.
