Tuesday evening, Gerry Glasco and the texas tech softball team will look to add on to their winning streak as they head to Abilene for a midweek Matchup with the Abilene Christian Wildcats. Texas Tech has already had a chance to play the Wildcats and managed to win the first meeting by a score of 24-0. Here’s what we can expect from the game tonight.Â
As the No. 2 Red Raiders (34-2 overall, 11-1 Big 12) take the trip on over to Abilene to meet up with the Wildcats, they’ll be facing off with a team that is completely and totally outmatched here in a number of ways.
While the Red Raiders enter the game with a 34-2 overall record, ACU has managed to secure just four wins on the season so far. So, you know, that’s not exactly ideal for the Wildcats. But that’s not Texas Tech’s problem here.Â
What to know as the No. 2 Texas Tech Red Raiders head to Abilene for a midweek matchup with the Abilene Christian Wildcats
The Red Raiders are fresh off of a dominant series sweep of the Iowa State Cyclones. Through the three games that Texas Tech played against Iowa State, the Red Raiders managed to win 36-9 and all three games ended in run rule victories for the Texas Tech softball team.
Following that really solid series sweep of Iowa State, TExas Tech now has a batting average of .404 as a team and they’ve managed to hammer 75 home runs so far this season. The pitching staff, as a team, owns a collective 1.71 ERA and has managed to deal out 242 strikeouts against fewer than 50 walks on the season.
ACU, on the other hand, is struggling. The Wildcats have a .251 batting average as a team and their ERA sits at north of nine. They’re not doing so great. So, this is a great opportunity for Texas Tech to go out, continue building momentum, and manage its pitching workload before facing the BYU Cougars starting on Thursday.
