Oklahoma softball fans probably really enjoyed how things ended against the Tennessee Lady Vols. The Sooners probably shouldn’t have been able to beat Tennessee in this game with the way things looked at the end.
But hey, the Sooners stole one in remarkable, exciting, and dramatic fashion and they made it clear that they’re still one of the most terrifying teams that anyone can face at any given time.
As for Tennessee? Well… Fans of the Lady Vols probably aren’t all that happy and it’s largely because the Tennessee softball team was somehow unable to claim a win despite having a two-run lead with two outs in the 7th inning.
I mean, if we’re being honest, that is absolutely a game that Tennessee should have been able to win. But it wasn’t! Oklahoma proved to be the better team thanks to timely hitting and a really fun home run to end the game.
Oklahoma softball claims comeback win over Tennessee Lady Vols in 2025 Women’s College World Series
Oklahoma’s Ella Parker deserves all the credit in the world for securing this win for the Sooners. She truly stood out as she hit two home runs (both of which proved to be pretty important for OU’s hopes of winning this game).
In the 1st inning, Parker launched a solo shot home run to right field to get the Sooners on the board after Tennessee struck quickly and put two runs up in the top of the 1st inning. The Lady Vols would later respond by claiming a 3-1 advantage in the 3rd inning thanks to a dropped fly ball.
And that 3-1 lead? Well, it held all the way into the 7th inning, when the Sooners had two runners on base and there were two outs. And then Parker stepped up to the plate once more to launch a three run homer into the stands to put the game away.
And again, I suspect Oklahoma fans had a ton of fun watching that home run happen. Maybe they weren’t thrilled that the Sooners needed a walkoff home run to get a win in the Women’s College World Series, but I bet they were thrilled watching it happen.
