The magical ride that the Ole Miss Softball team has been on all throughout the 2025 college softball season has officially come to a close as the Rebels came up short against the Oregon Ducks in the elimination bracket of the 2025 Women’s College World Series.
Ole Miss is ending its season as the Rebels lost in a heartbreaking, extra innings situation against the Ducks in a Women’s College World Series game that started on Friday night and carried on into Saturday morning. The Rebels, in a must win situation, lost. They did a great job of challenging the Ducks and carried the game into the 10th inning, but still fell by a score of 6-5.
Ole Miss had been on an unexpected sort of string of success late in the season. Their Women’s College world Series run is ending, but their season was truly remarkable, all things considered. This is a team that got hot late in the season after struggling in SEC play and made a run through the 2025 NCAA softball tournament.
Oregon Ducks send the Ole Miss Rebels home after heartbreaking, extra inning elimination game in 2025 Women’s College World Series
I will say, the Rebels truly did everything they possibly could to compete at the highest level once they earned their spot in the WCWS. They scored first, fell behind, and then fought back in the 7th inning to tied things up at 5-5 in thrilling and dramatic fashion.
You’ve absolutely got to tip your cap to the effort that they put into trying to survive. And this comes after a close, tense pitchers’ duel against NiJaree Canady and the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Ole Miss was playing at a pretty high level late in the season.
But against Oregon, the Rebels just missed too many opportunities. And now, the Ducks have sent Ole Miss on home.
So that fun run that included advancing through the Tucson Regional, causing chaos and beating the Arkansas Razorbacks in the Fayetteville Super Regional, and making it to the Women’s College World Series is now done.
