All throughout the season, Oregon Ducks head coach Dan Lanning and his staff have had to adjust and account for injured stars. They’ve missed having a number of different key contributors on and off and it’s impacted their offense a bit. As the season has gone on, the Ducks have been able to get some of those players back.
And it sounds like one talented running back who was dinged up in Oregon’s College Football Playoff opening round matchup against the James Madison might be on his way to getting back on the field when Joey McGuire and the Texas Tech Red Raiders line up opposite of the Ducks.
Lanning was asked directly about Jordon Davison’s status. And Lanning succinctly and directly answered, with Oregon’s head coach noting that he thinks the freshman running back will “be in good shape by next game.”
That game, of course, being the Orange Bowl and the quarterfinals round of the 2025-2026 College Football Playoff.
Oregon Ducks head coach Dan Lanning shares that he believes running back Jordon Davison will be back against the Texas Tech Red Raiders
Again, Davison is just a freshman, but the talented running back has definitely played a pretty significant role in the Oregon Ducks getting to this point in the season.
In the 13 games that he’s played for Oregon so far, Davison has managed to run for 625 yards on 98 carries (which is good for 6.4 yards per carry). And while that stat line alone isn’t mindblowing, the fact that Davison has 13 rushing touchdowns so far this season should be more than enough to prove that the Oregon football team definitely trusts him and relies upon him.
At 6-0 and 236 pounds, it seems like he’s going to be someone that will be kinda tricky for the Red Raiders to slow down. Texas Tech will need to keep an eye on him and ensure that it wins at the line of scrimmage to prevent him from getting loose down the field.
