The Oregon Ducks aren’t done just yet. When faced with elimination and in front of over 12,000 people, the Oregon softball team managed to handle everything that the Ole Miss Rebels could throw at them and come out on top. With a win over Ole Miss, Oregon is able to stay alive in the 2025 NCAA Softball Tournament. The Ducks still hold a spot at the Women’s College World Series.
That’s a pretty impressive thing and Oregon should absolutely be proud of itself right now.
And to be completely honest, the Ole Miss Rebels should be proud of the fight they put up in a late elimination game that went into extra innings. The Rebels looked really impressive in their trip to Oklahoma City and managed to give one of the most talented teams in the country a headache.
That’s not something every college softball team across the country is able to brag about.
Oregon Ducks win Game 6 of the 2025 Women’s College World Series and eliminate the Ole Miss Rebels in the process
This game took nearly four hours, which is an incredibly long college softball game. It went into the 10th inning. Both of these teams have absolutely every right to be exhausted after the way they played Friday evening and into Saturday morning.
And it’s interesting how this game played out. Ole Miss was able to claim a 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning, but the Ducks struck back and scored two runs in the bottom of the 1st, erasing the only Ole Miss lead of the game.
Both teams scored again in the 5th inning, but Ole Miss scored one run while the Ducks managed to get three more runs on the scoreboard, putting Oregon up 5-2 rolling into the later innings in the game. The Rebels surged in the 7th inning, scoring three runs and forcing extra innings. And then Oregon was able to end it all with another run scored in the 10th.
These two teams were really solid, played a complete softball game (and then some) and they showed a ton of resilience. Everybody involved should be proud of the way they performed.
