The Texas Tech Red Raiders might be feeling a bit of pressure as they get closer and closer to the conclusion of the regular season. There’s a lot of attention being paid to the folks from Lubbock (and for good reason).
At 10-1 overall and 7-1 against Big 12 teams throughout this season, Texas Tech currently looks to be the most impressive team from the conference. And the Red Raiders are also among the most impressive, and dominant, teams in the country. They’ve routinely crushed their opponents this year and have looked really solid in each of their wins.
So, yeah, Texas Tech might be feeling a bit of pressure. But if you happen to ask Red Raider offensive coordinator Mack Leftwich how this particular Texas Tech football team is handling said pressure, it seems like he’s not all that impacted or worried.
And as Leftwich notes, it’s because of how the Red Raiders have prepared to get to this point in the season.
Texas Tech offensive coordinator Mack Leftwich notes how the Red Raiders have worked to prepare for their matchup with West Virginia
During a press conference, Leftwich explained that they’re preparing for this moment in the same way that they’ve prepared all throughout the season. He and his team are handling the pressure just as they’ve prepared to get to this point.
“I think that’s the great thing about kind of that ‘1-0’ mentality that we’ve had all season, you know, our focus is on going and executing and beating West Virginia and playing at a high level,” Leftwich said. “You know, just like it has been the other 11 games.”
That, my friends, feels refreshing and encouraging to hear.
“So, I don’t think really anything should change,” Leftwich continued. “You know, you would hope all year your preparation has been to the level that it would be in a game like this.”
And so, if there is a bit of pressure, it looks like some of the folks on the Red Raider football team aren’t feeling all that squeezed heading into the last game of the regular season.
