Not all high-profile professional athletes remain passionate about their alma mater. However, the most famous Texas Tech alum in the world, NFL superstar Patrick Mahomes II, wears his Red Raider heart on his sleeve anytime his school goes to battle in any athletic competition. That was again the case Thursday night during Tech's unthinkable comeback against Arkansas in the Sweet 16.

Of course, Mahomes is invested in the Texas Tech athletic program. He's not just a supporter of the football program that helped turn him from an under-the-radar 3-star recruit to a first-round NFL Draft pick. Rather, Mahomes is always voicing his support for the Red Raiders, regardless of what sport is in the spotlight.

Don't forget that in August of last year, he signed several Texas Tech athletes to be part of "Team Mahomes", a group that received an NIL deal from Mahomes and adidas. Of the six athletes to sign with Mahomes, only one (former Texas Tech wide receiver Micah Hudson) played football.

The others were NiJaree Canady (Softball), Jasmine Shavers (Basketball), Matthew Comegys (Golf), Sam Courtwright (Soccer), and TJ Pompey (Baseball). Thus, Mahomes showed support for the entire athletic program, not just the football team.

Mahomes' unquestionable love for the university is one reason that he is so beloved by Texas Tech fans. His vocal and passionate support of his alma mater makes him feel relatable and human. Because we see him living and dying with each huge Red Raider sporting event, we feel as if he could be one of our college friends whom we text during the game to share our frustrations and celebrations.

Once again, on Thursday night, Mahomes was active on social media as the Red Raiders fought back from a 16-point halftime deficit to overtake Arkansas in overtime 85-83 to advance to the Elite Eight. Here's a look at some of the best X posts he sent out as he rode the wave like every other fan.

Because Mahomes is so transparent and open with his Red Raider fandom, it isn't tough to envision him watching the game and pacing around the room while taking in last night's game. And it is easy to think about him getting swept up in the drama of the comeback and then celebrating the win just like thousands of other Red Raiders across the country did. Mahomes is truly invested in this university, and it is always a blast to see him take on the role of a fan because it reminds us that he is all-in on Texas Tech.
