A winning road record would be refreshing for Texas Tech

For as well as McGuire has fared at home, he's been just as bad on the road. In fact, this year, he even went so far as to pick the brain of Detroit Lions' head coach Dan Campbell to figure out how to succeed away from Lubbock.

Tech is just 3-8 in true road games under McGuire. This year, that has to change. If the Red Raiders can just have a winning record away from home and then have continued success at Jones Stadium, then they could be factors in the Big 12 race.

This year, there are only five road games. However, none are going to be guaranteed wins. Tech will also have to be playing its best in the back half of the year with three road games in four weeks from October 26 to November 23.
