Five Texas Tech basketball transfers that it hurt the most to lose
Maybe it was naive but some Texas Tech fans thought we might be able to grow old with Pop Isaacs. That wasn't to be, though, as he has transferred to Creighton after two seasons in Lubbock.
It just felt like Isaacs and Tech fit like a hand and a glove. The feisty undersized guard played with an edge that in many ways mirrored the attitude of the Red Raider fan base.
In his two seasons as a Red Raider, he averaged 13.9 points per game which included a career-high 15.8 p.p.g. in 2023-24. What's more, this year he earned third-team All-Big 12 honors.
Isaacs was popular with fans because we saw him grow up in his two seasons, especially considering the off-the-court issues he played through this past year. He also played through a serious injury (though no one knew that until the season was over).
Say what you want about Isaacs' flaws as a player including his inefficiency as a scorer. He played his tail off just about every time he stepped on the court and he will be tough for the Red Raiders to replace in 2024-25.
