Projecting the 2024 Texas Tech football depth chart: The Behren Morton era begins
Texas Tech will have a completely new defensive line
Position | Player |
---|---|
Defensive End | Joseph Adedire |
Nose Tackle | Quincy Ledet |
Defensive Tackle | E'Maurion Banks |
Edge Rusher | Amier Washington |
Reserves | Isaac Smith, James Hansen, Dylan Spencer, De'Braylon Carroll |
Along the defensive line, gone are 2023 starting tackles Jaylon Hutchings and Tony Bradford Jr. who both graduated after being pillars of the Red Raider defense for years. Also gone are 2023 starting edge rusher Steve Linton (who transferred) and starting defensive end Myles Cole, who is now in the NFL.
Replacing Linton and Cole won't be tough because neither was an impact player. But trying to fill the shoes of Bradford and Hutchings won't be easy.
Quincy Ledet and E'Maurion Banks likely get the first shot at that. Each showed flashes as backups last season and they will get their shot to play huge roles this fall.
At end, it is finally time for junior Joseph Adedire to put it all together and become a star. He's shown glimpses of doing that but nagging injuries and inconsistent play have kept him from truly taking off. Still, he has all the physical tools needed to break out this season.
Amier Washington needs to take his game to a new level as a redshirt freshman. After racking up three sacks in the Independence Bowl, is he ready to be a full-time menace off the edge for the Red Raiders?
