One of the highest-ranked high school basketball players in the class of 2025 is closing in on a decision. Tuesday, it was revealed that the Texas Tech basketball program remains in the mix in this crucial recruiting battle.

Kingston Flemings, a 6-foot-3 point guard from San Antonio, Texas, is rated by the 247Sports consensus rankings as a five-star recruit and he's reportedly trimmed his list of possible schools to five. Tech is on that list along with Arkansas, Texas, Houston, and Gonzaga.

The Red Raiders have put the full-court press on Flemings, their top priority in the current recruiting cycle. Whether or not Grant McCasland and his program can close the deal will tell us quite a bit about the Red Raiders' ability to land blue-chip high school prospects. It could also tell us something about what the Tech's N.I.L. program is capable of when going up against other big-time programs.

Flemings is rated the No. 4 point guard and No. 21 overall player in the nation according to the 247Sports consensus rankings. That would make him the highest-ranked player to ever commit to the Red Raiders out of high school topping Jahmi'us Ramsey, a four-star recruit and the No. 42 overall player in the class of 2019 who spent only one season with Tech before heading to the NBA Draft.

Flemings might also be a one-and-done player in college. However, he is a talent who is worth bringing into the mix, even if it is for only a short stay.

According to Brandon Jenkins, a 247Sports recruiting analyst, Flemings "has the highest ceiling out of any lead guard prospect in the national class."

Tech offered a scholarship to Flemings way back in April of 2023, He then took an official visit to Lubbock in September of last year. Since then, he's taken no official visits but he does have plans to visit Texas, Houston, and Gonzaga this fall.

Currently, there are no players committed to the Red Raiders for the class of 2025. Of course, landing Flemings would be a fantastic way to get that class up and running. It could also potentially vault McCasland's program into a new stratosphere when it comes to being a power player on the recruiting front.
