The Texas Tech football program has played some intriguing non-conference opponents in its nearly 100-year history. However, there are a number of programs that the Red Raiders haven't ever faced.

Scheduling for football is a tricky endeavor. It often requires lengthy foresight, some political maneuvering, and often loads of money.

Currently, Tech has future non-conference games set with such programs as Washington State, Oregon State, NC State, Mississippi State, Arkansas, and Oregon (among others). Today, though, let's look at the programs the Red Raiders have yet to square off with on the gridiron.

Texas Tech vs. American Athletic Conference

UAB Blazers: UAB has only been playing football since 1991 so it isn't a shock that Tech has never crossed paths with the Blazers.

Florida Atlantic Owls: FAU has only had a football program since 2001. A familiar face leads their program, former Texas and Houston head coach Tom Herman.

Memphis Tigers: Memphis has annually been one of the most successful mid-major programs. They have appeared in 16 bowl games and have won their conference eight times so it is easy to envision Tech squaring off with them in a postseason game at some point.

Charlotte 49ers: Charlotte is not a regional opponent for Texas Tech nor does it have much of a history in football making it easy to see why Texas Tech has never faced the 49ers.

Temple Owls: Despite playing football since 1894, Temple has just nine bowl games to its credit. It's hard to envision Texas Tech ever considering Temple worthy of being an opponent that would bring anything to the table for the Red Raiders.

UTSA Roadrunners: Despite being a football program that began in just 2011, UTSA has become one of the stronger Group of 5 programs in recent years. The Roadrunners would love to have a shot at playing Texas Tech as they look for any shot to punch up at an in-state program.
