3. Cameran Brown

There is no quarterback controversy, but after what happened last season it was expected Tech would look to get a quarterback through the portal. That is where Cameran Brown comes in. The sophomore comes in from West Georgia with three years of eligibility left.

West Georgia might not be on anyone's radar, but Brown put together a solid 2023 campaign for the Wolves. He was named the Gulf South Conference freshman of the year after throwing for 914 yards with 10 touchdowns. Brown is also a dual-threat who rushed for over 400 yards last year as well. With a stat line like that, McGuire was intrigued enough to bring him in as a backup.

Behren Morton proved he is the guy following Tyler Shough's injury and departure. However, once the team also lost Morton for a few games and he was barely able to practice, the offensive production nosedived. It was almost Tahj Brooks or bust with mostly short routes and the occasional deep route with Morton the rest of the season.

Jake Strong showed his inexperience last year and while he has time to improve, the program wanted another quarterback with experience after Shough left. Will Hammond might be the future but still needs to be groomed heavily by Zach Kittley. With Brown, the coaching staff knows they have a solid backup option if Morton gets hurt again. It will be new level of play for Brown going from the Gulf South to the Big 12, but spring brings new hope. Fans should keep an eye on him when the team hits the field for the spring game.
