Since the moment he arrived in Lubbock, Texas Tech football head coach Joey McGuire has been trying to improve his program's offensive line the old-fashioned way, through the high school ranks. That process continues in the class of 2025 as the Red Raiders have landed a commitment from 3-star prospect Patrick McMath.

According to 247Sports.com, the 6-foot-4, 255-pound product of Katy, Texas is the No. 1241 player and No. 91 interior offensive lineman in the nation. What's more, he's rated the No. 191 player in Texas according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

This is the first offensive lineman to give his pledge to the Red Raiders in the current recruiting cycle. In addition to Tech, he has offers from Big 12 programs such as Arizona, Baylor, BYU, and Houston, as well as programs from various other conferences.

Texas Tech has long struggled to build a competitive offensive line. The failures of the Kliff Kingsbury and Matt Wells coaching staffs to properly restock the pipeline at that position left McGuire and his staff scrambling to assemble a solid group that could hold up in the Big 12 each season.

For instance, this season, the program is set to field an offensive line with three former transfers likely to start. That includes two first-year transfers who the program will ask to be immediate starters.

What's more, during the McGuire era, the program has added eight offensive linemen via the portal. That's an average of four per class, a sign that McGuire has been searching for answers at that position group since the moment he arrived.

What's more, of this year's two-deep rotation, tackles Caleb Rogers and Sterling Porcher, as well as guards Vinny Sciury and Davior Carter will all be seniors in 2025. Therefore, the Red Raiders will have plenty of roles to fill up front next season.

After a couple of 2025 players decommitted from the Red Raiders on Sunday, Tech's 2025 recruiting class sits at No. 14 commits. It is still ranked No. 25 in the nation according to 247Sports.
