When do the Texas Tech Red Raiders begin their pursuit of a March Madness title? We now have that answer.

The NCAA has announced that Grant McCasland's team will tip off against the NC State Wolfpack on Thursday, March 21 at 8:40 PM CST. That gives Texas Tech fans a full day to watch the opening round of the tournament before the Red Raiders begin their journey to what we hope is another Final Four.

The game will be played in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at PPG Paints Arena. It will be broadcast on CBS.

This will be the 20th NCAA Tournament for Texas Tech. What's more, it will be the fifth time in the last six years in which the event has been held that the Red Raiders will be included.

The Red Raiders enter with an overall record of 23-10 and a mark of 11-7 in Big 12 play. They earned an at-large bid after finishing tied for third in the Big 12 standings and advancing to the conference tournament semifinals.

This will be a rare matchup with NC State. All-time, the programs have met only three times with the Wolfpack winning two of those games. However, the schools have not played since 1954. The programs have never met in the postseason.

The ESPN.com matchup predictor gives the edge to the Red Raiders. That metric puts Tech's chances of advancing at 63%.

Both teams are playing well heading into this matchup. The Red Raiders have won four of their last five games with the only loss being against No. 1 Houston in the Big 12 Tournament semifinals.

Meanwhile, NC State rides a five-game winning streak into Thursday's showdown. All five of those games came during their championship run in the ACC Tournament last week.
