Texas Tech WR Josh Kelly listed on latest injury report

Monday, the Texas Tech football program released its latest injury report and the team's top wide receiver, Josh Kelly, was included. The transfer from Washington State who leads the Red Raiders with 31 catches and 376 yards this year is listed as "questionable" with an ankle injury.

The good news is that head coach Joey McGuire said earlier this week that he would be surprised if Kelly doesn't play this weekend against Cincinnati. If Kelly is unable to play, though, McGuire said that players such as Jordan Brown, Drae McCray, and Brady Boyd would have to step into his role in the offense.

Other important Red Raiders who appear on this week's injury list include starting inside linebacker Ben Roberts (shoulder), starting edge rusher Amier Washington (hip), and starting corner Bralyn Lux (thigh).

Texas Tech soccer back in the top 25

This week, the Texas Tech soccer program returned to the top 25. Checking in at No. 25 in the latest United Soccer Coaches Association poll, the Red Raiders are coming off of an impressive 2-0 win over then-No. 12 Oklahoma State in Stillwater.

Tech sits at 7-2-1 on the season and 2-0-1 in Big 12 action. What's more, head coach Tom Stone's team is on a six-game unbeaten streak.

The soccer team returns to action this Thursday evening with a 7 p.m. game against Kansas State, in Manhattan, Kansas. Then, on Sunday, Tech will face Houston on the road for a 1 p.m. game. The next home game won't be until Friday, October, 4th against Baylor.

Texas Tech women's basketball's top recruiting target cuts one suitor

The top women's high school basketball player in the nation for the class of 2025, Aaliyah Chavez, calls Lubbock home. Texas Tech has been recruiting the Monterey High School product for years and now that she is close to making a decision, Lady Raider fans are watching her recruitment closely.

This week, it is being reported that Chavez has cut one major suitor from her list of potential schools. Or, perhaps that suitor took themselves out of the running. Regardless, it is being reported that LSU is no longer in the picture for Chavez, who is reportedly seeking at least $1 million in N.I.L. compensation.

Many feel that Tech and Texas are the top two most likely landing spots for Chavez. And it appears that the appeal of playing at home could be on her mind.

"That's my hometown," Chavez told Jasone Pearson of 806 High School media, "so that has an advantage. I'd love to be a hometown hero. I love the coaching staff."

Texas Tech volleyball opens Big 12 play in Utah

After an 8-4 start to the season, the Texas Tech volleyball team is set to open Big 12 play this weekend. The Red Raiders are set to take on Utah on Thursday at 8 p.m. Central before a match with No. 17 BYU on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Last year, the Red Raiders lost both matches against BYU. Meanwhile, they have not played Utah since 2001.
