Texas Tech Red Raiders that must step up against NC State
Chance McMillan must give Texas Tech some bench scoring
The Red Raiders must be efficient on offense tonight, and that includes Chance McMillian. Tech's best bench player but give this team some productivity if McCasland's team is going to have enough scoring to prevail.
Last year, while playing for Grand Canyon, McMillian had 16 points in a first-round NCAA Tournament loss to Gonzaga. Can he put up a similar type of performance tonight?
In each of his last six games, he's scored in double figures. During that span, he's averaged 14.4 points per game.
McMillian's 3-point shooting must be on point against NC State as well. Over the last six games, he's shooting 42.9% from deep and hitting an average of 2.5 shots from downtown.
However, NC State allows teams to shoot only 31.6% from 3-point range. That's third-best in the A.C.C.
On the other hand, Tech shoots 36.5% from deep as a team. That's good for second in the Big 12.
McMillian is a big part of that and the Red Raiders will need him to connect on his open looks tonight. If he does and if he provides a big boost off the bench, then the Red Raiders are likely to keep dancing into the weekend.
