Texas Tech baseball to play Texas in Las Vegas this season

This week, the Texas Tech baseball team announced that it will play in the 2025 Las Vegas College Baseball Classic. That's important to Red Raider fans because one of the games in that event will pit Tech against the University of Texas. In the other two games, the Red Raiders will face Illinois and Washington.

Of course, the game with Texas, scheduled for March 1, is what is going to capture the attention of folks around Raiderland. That's because opportunities to face the Longhorns are going to be rare now that Texas is in the S.E.C.

In fact, it seems likely that the Red Raiders will only get their shot at taking out Texas in early-season neutral-site events such as this. Still, it will be great to see that long-running rivalry continue for at least one game next season.

Texas Tech volleyball takes down Kansas State

Thursday night in Lubbock, the Texas Tech volleyball team got a much-needed Big 12 win by beating Kansas State in four sets. The win moved the Red Raiders to 9-6 overall and 1-2 in Big 12 play.

Tech won the first set 25-18 and took the second set 25-21. The Wildcats answered to win the third set 25-18 before Tech captured the fourth set 25-15.

Leading the way for Texas Tech was Mia Wesley who recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 14 kills and 19 digs. The win put an end to a four-match skid for the Red Raiders who next travel to Colorado for a match on Saturday night.

Texas Tech soccer returns home to face Baylor

The red-hot Texas Tech soccer team is finally back at home after a series of three straight road games that saw the Red Raiders go 3-0. Tonight, Tech will be at the John Walker Soccer Complex to take on Baylor.

This is the first of three games in a row in Lubbock for the Red Raiders who are riding a four-match winning streak. Tech is tied with Colorado and West Virginia for first place in the Big 12 and is working on a 22-match Big 12 unbeaten streak as well as an 18-match home winning streak.

Baylor is not playing as well. Currently, the Bears are just 6-4-3 overall and 1-2-2 in Big 12 play. Tonight's game begins at 7 p.m.

Texas Tech to host NCAA men's golf regional in 2027

It has been announced that the Rawls Course at Texas Tech will be a host site for one of the 2027 NCAA men's golf regional rounds. That is in addition to hosting a women's regional in 2025.

In all, the Rawls Course has already hosted three NCAA events. The men's team previously hosted a regional in 2015, while the Women's Regional was hosted in 2005 and 2017.
