Former Texas Tech QB fired as Purdue offensive coordinator

Former Texas Tech quarterback Graham Harrell, one of the best players in Red Raider history, has hit a speed bump in his coaching career. The all-time leading passer in program history was fired this week from his job as the Purdue offensive coordinator following a 28-10 loss to Nebraska.

This year Purdue ranks 110th nationally in total offense and passing offense, 79th in rushing offense, and 105th in scoring offense. Here's hoping Harrell lands on his feet and gets another opportunity in the coaching profession.

Texas Tech basketball reveals new uniforms

The Texas Tech basketball team revealed its new adidas uniforms this week. Modeled by Kerwin Walton, Darrion Williams, and Chance McMillan, the new threads have an old-school look to them.

All three of the uniforms, the red, white, and black looks, not only have the old-school flat Double T on the shorts but they also have the same font as the uniforms Texas Tech wore in the early 2000s under former head coach Bob Knight.

What makes that font unique to the Knight era is that the words "Texas Tech" both appear above the numbers on the front of the uniform. Since then, most iterations of the Red Raiders' jerseys have had the numbers in between the two words in the school name.

Texas Tech soccer continues its winning ways

The Texas Tech soccer team picked up another win on Sunday. The 2-0 win over Houston came in Tech's third road game in a row.

Moving to 9-2-1 overall and 4-0-1 in the Big 12, Tech scored twice in the first three minutes of the second half. Taylor Zdrojewski opened the scoring just 38 seconds after halftime, and Peyton Dyess notched a goal just two minutes later to add some insurance.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Faith Nguyen made six saves, a career-best, to earn her eighth victory and sixth shutout of 2024. In doing so, Nguyen moved into a tie for ninth all-time on the career shutout list for the Red Raiders.

Friday night, the Red Raiders return home for the first time since September 19 when they host Baylor. The game begins at 7 p.m.

Kliff Kingsbury gets revenge on Arizona Cardinals

Former Texas Tech QB and head coach Kliff Kingsbury had a big day on Sunday. Facing the Arizona Cardinals franchise he led as head coach from 2019-22, the now Washington Commanders' offensive coordinator guided his team to a scoring outburst in a 42-14 win in Arizona.

After the game, Commanders' head coach, Dan Quinn recognized how special the win was for Kingsbury by giving him the game ball. Kingsbury has helped the Commanders to a 3-1 start to sti atop the NFC East standings.

Jordyn Brooks has big game on Monday Night Football

Though it came in a losing effort, former Texas Tech linebacker Jordyn Brooks had a huge game for the Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football. In his team's 31-12 loss to the Tennessee Titans, Brooks racked up 13 tackles (9 solo) with two tackles for loss, a sack, and a pass defense.

This year, Brooks has made 32 total tackles in four games. He's currently on pace for a 136-tackle season.

This is Brooks' first season in Miami after four productive years with the Seattle Seahawks. Unfortunately for him, the Dolphins are off to just a 1-3 start. However, the former Red Raider is in the midst of another standout season.
