Texas Tech is undefeated against these Big Ten programs

Michigan State Spartans (1-0-0)
Minnesota Golden Gophers (2-0-0)
Northwestern Wildcats (1-0-0)

Continuing the theme of bowl game meetings, the three Big Ten series Tech is undefeated in have all been contested only in bowl games. In the 2010 Alamo Bowl, played after the 2009 season, Tech beat Michigan State 41-31 just days after the university fired head football coach Mike Leach.

A season later, on New Year's Day of 2011, Tech faced Northwestern in the TicketCity.com Bowl at the Cotton Bowl Stadium in Dallas. The 45-38 win was one of the least memorable bowl wins in program history given the lack of prestige of that now-defunct bowl game.

Tech has faced Minnesota in two bowl games. In the 2006 Insight Bowl, the Red Raiders erased a 31-point second-half deficit to win the game in OT, 44-41. Then, in the 2012 Meineke Car Care Bowl of Texas, the Red Raiders hit a late field goal for a 34-31 win.
