Gerry Glasco and the Texas Tech softball team managed to effortlessly navigate a weather delay to snag a solid, seven-run win over the Marist Red Foxes on Friday. Against Marist, Texas Tech managed to steal an astonishing six bases to help the Red Raiders get the win.

Really, Texas Tech’s ability to completely and totally own the basepaths and baserunning is how the Red Raiders were able to get this win. Mihyia Davis was able to get two steals and Logan Halleman matched that with two of her own. Mia Williams and Hailey Toney each had two steals as well.

All of that success on the basepaths made it easy for the Red Raiders to get this 10-3 win.

The Texas Tech Red Raiders had no issue stealing base or snagging a solid win over the Marist Red Foxes to start the 2026 Lubbock Regional

In the circle, Kaitlyn Terry had a phenomenal outing as her win-loss record improved to 23-1. In 4.0 innings pitched, Terry only gave up a couple of hits and one earned run as she struck out five Red Foxes batters.

Samantha Lincoln was able to take over in the circle, allowing the Red Raiders to really utilize their pitching depth and keep everyone fresh. Lincoln managed to go through 3.0 innings pitched and allowed a couple of runs to score, but she struck out four batters along the way.

The win itself was pretty impressive. It’s never a bad thing to go out and beat someone by seven runs. But there are a few numbers that are interesting here. Mia Williams managed to become the first in Texas Tech softball history to hit 20 home runs and also to steal 20 bases.

Also, Marist had four errors! That helps! That really made things that much easier for Texas Tech to get this win.

Texas Tech is set to face the Ole Miss Rebels in the winner’s bracket of the Lubbock Regional on Saturday at 2 p.m. The matchup between the Red Raiders and the Rebels will be broadcast on ESPN2.
