The past couple of seasons have been really impressive for Reggie Virgil. In just two seasons, after not having much of an impact in the first couple of seasons of his college football career, Virgil managed to catch just shy of 100 passes and ended up having a chance to play in the College Football Playoff.

Not bad for a guy who started his college career in the MAC before making the move to the Big 12 to play for the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

In total, Virgil ended up spending three seasons with the Miami (Ohio) Redhawks. And in those three seasons, he really only had a significant impact in one: the 2024 season where he certainly got firmly on Texas Tech’s radar with a breakout season.

Reggie Virgil continues his career after solid season with Texas Tech Red Raiders by competing in 2026 Senior Bowl

During the 2024 season with the Redhawks, Virgil managed to catch 41 passes for 816 yards and nine touchdowns. It was a really good year for the talented receiver.

Virgil wasn’t quite as productive in Texas Tech’s offense, but he did catch 57 passes for 705 yards and six touchdowns. In addition to that, Virgil also got a couple of carries (literally two) that he turned into 35 yards and two touchdowns.

Virgil is going to be one of five Red Raiders competing in the 2026 Senior Bowl, looking to showcase his talents to the folks at the next level. To get a little more specific, Virgil is one of two Texas Tech wide receivers taking part in the Senior Bowl. The others are all on the defensive side of the ball.

This is a cool opportunity for the talented receiver to showcase just how much potential he has. Of course, everyone at the Senior Bowl has worked hard and is talented, otherwise they wouldn’t be there, but Virgil has a chance to demonstrate why he had two really impressive seasons the past couple years and why NFL teams should want him. Just like everyone else there, this is a huge moment in his career.
