The Texas Tech Lady Raiders didn’t have much fun on Wednesday night when they met up with the Iowa State Cyclones. After finding a way to bounce back from a couple losses and pummel the Utah Utes on the road in Texas Tech’s last game out, the Lady Raiders suffered a 14-point home loss at the hands of the Cyclones.

Which is far from what Texas Tech wants to be accomplishing this season. The Lady Raiders have now lost three of their last four games and they just don’t look all that sharp against Big 12 competition. That was certainly evident in the 84-70 loss against Iowa State, where so many Texas Tech women’s basketball players struggled to have an impact on the game.

However, off the bench, Snudda Collins played a pivotal role and was certainly instrumental in the Lady Raiders being able to score and try to keep up with Iowa State. While the Lady Raiders ultimately fell short in an infuriating way, the fact that Collins was one of just two Texas Tech players to have a positive plus/minus is something we should talk about a bit.

Snudda Collins’ production off the bench had a huge impact as the Texas Tech Lady Raiders took on the Iowa State Cyclones on Wednesday

And it’s not just that Collins had a positive plus/minus as Jada Malone also accomplished that in just 12 minutes on the court. But Collins, in 24 minutes, managed to score 16 points on 6-of-13 shooting (including 2-of-6 from behind the three point line) posted a +8 plus/minue.

That’s not bad!

Collins also managed to grab three rebounds, dished out an assist, and snagged a steal during her time on the court.

So much of this game was a mess, but it was refreshing to see Collins prove that she can have an impact on a game and provide a spark for the Lady Raiders while coming off the bench. And in a night where Texas Tech wasn’t able to do any damage from inside the paint, Collins getting 16 points feels significant.
