With a stellar performance all throughout the 2024 season (and because he’d already run for well over 1000 yards in a single season back in 2023), Tahj Brooks was able to join a pretty exclusive club for the Texas Tech Red Raiders in 2024.
After all that he accomplished throughout the 2024 season, Brooks was able to become the fifth Red Raider in Texas Tech football history to run for at least 1000 yards in a single season on multiple occasions.
In 2023, Brooks put together a season in which he ran for 1538 yards and 10 touchdowns on 290 carries. While he didn’t play in the entirety of the 2024 season, Brooks still managed to put together a season where he ran for 1505 yards on 286 carries and scored 17 rushing touchdowns.
That’s incredible. And that’s how Brooks became the fifth Red Raider to run for at least 1000 yards in back-to-back seasons. He just simply plowed right through each and every defense that he faced.
Texas Tech football history: In 2024, Tahj Brooks became the 5th Red Raider to ever run for 1000 or more yards in back-to-back seasons
Now, it is worth noting that Brooks didn’t have a single game in 2024 where he managed to run for more than 200 yards, but there were no games that he played in where he ran for fewer than 100 yards. Every single opponent Brooks faced gave up at least 100 rushing yards to the Texas Tech running back.
That includes 153 yards against Abilene Christian, 109 yards against North Texas, 117 yards vs. Arizona State, 172 yards against Cincinnati, 128 yards at ARizona, 125 yards vs. Baylor, 121 yards at TCU, 122 yards against Iowa State, 137 yards vs. Colorado, 133 yards vs. Oklahoma State, and 188 yards against West Virginia.
Time and time again, Brooks produced at a high level for the Red Raiders. He was consistent and really dang good and he definitely earned his place in the Texas Tech record books in the process.
