Well, the TCU Horned Frogs went on the road and met up with the West Virginia Mountaineers. And while the game should have been an absolute blowout, it really wasn’t all that special for Sonny Dykes and the TCU football team.

The Horned Frogs got off to a solid start, built a 20-7 lead over West Virginia, and then just watched as the Mountaineers tried to mount a comeback. The game ended up at 23-17 in TCU’s favor, but this game probably should have been very lopsided! And it wasn’t. Not at all. TCU played a pretty pitiful second half against the Mountaineers.

And what exactly does that mean for Texas Tech fans? Well, not much. But there’s a game later down the line that might mean quite a bit and we can learn a bit about what that one might look like by taking a look at this game.

Here’s why.

What do Texas Tech fans need to know about TCU’s close call with the West Virginia Mountaineers?

When it’s all said and done, we have to note that this particular game doesn’t have a ton of impact on the remainder of the season for the Red Raiders, but there is an element of this that is certainly worth paying attention to. On November 15, the Horned Frogs will take a road trip on up to Provo, Utah to meet up with the BYU Cougars.

And that’s a game that could certainly have an impact on the Big 12 championship picture. That’s a game that might matter quite a bit as to whether or not the Red Raiders get to compete in the Big 12 championship game and who Texas Tech might face should it make it there.

That’s a game that might mean a lot!

And if TCU decides to compete like it did against West Virginia when the Horned Frogs get to take on the BYU Cougars, then that game will almost certainly be an absolute disaster for TCU (and anyone who might benefit from having BYU lose that game).
