The Houston Cougars can technically still find a way into the Big 12 championship game, but it’s going to have to be a truly chaotic next few weeks for that to happen. It’s truly bizarre to think that the Coogs can still get to Arlington, but that’s just the way this conference is shaking out this season.

The Big 12 is quirky and weird and exciting and fun. I’m here for it.

One of the biggest things the Cougars need to do before we can even remotely talk about them making it into the Big 12 title game is whether or not they can handle business against a TCU Horned Frogs team that has been underachieving a bit as of late.

Or will we see TCU turn its fortunes around some and get this season going in the right direction for the folks up in Fort Worth over the last couple of weeks of the regular season?

Why should Texas Tech fans care about this matchup between the Houston Cougars and the TCU Horned Frogs?

One of the most interesting elements of this game is the possibility of TCU losing yet another game in a season that some Horned Frogs fans were hoping to see their favorite team compete for the Big 12 crown. With the way that TCU has played as of late with their two-game losing streak, it wouldn’t at all be shocking to see the Horned Frogs lose this one.

And should TCU end up losing against the Houston Cougars, who have been far better than I think anyone really ever could have anticipated, then I think we’re going to see TCU probably end the regular season at 6-6 and on a four-game losing streak when they face the Cincinnati Bearcats next week.

If that happens? Well, then we’re talking about TCU fans being VERY unhappy with their head coach. Things might get interesting for Sonny Dykes in a hurry.
