I think it’s a pretty cool thing for the Texas Tech Red Raiders to end their 2025 regular season run with a trip out to Morgantown, West Virginia to face off against Rich Rodriguez and his West Virginia Mountaineers this season.

Joey McGuire and the Red Raiders will get to take on the second era of Rich Rod West Virginia football and it’ll be interesting to see how that matchup plays out as these two teams have really matched up well against one another over the past decade.

I mean, we’re talking about two teams that have managed to split their series perfectly throughout the history of the matchups between the Red Raiders and the Mountaineers. That’s seven wins for Texas Tech and seven losses for Texas Tech in the 14 matchups that these two teams have had dating all the way back to a 1938 Sun Bowl meeting out in El Paso.

So, yeah, I’m a fan of the 2025 regular season ending with a matchup against West Virginia. It feels natural for me, even if they aren’t an Air Raid team anymore.

2025 Texas Tech football schedule: When will the Red Raiders face the West Virginia Mountaineers?

The 2025 edition of this series (I, for one, wouldn’t hate it if this became a bit more of a rivalry within the context of the Big 12) will take place on November 29, 2025. The Red Raiders will be fresh off a bye week when they take their trip into Appalachia to meet up with the Mountaineers and here’s to hoping that will help translate into a win for Texas Tech.

This series has gone back and forth a bit and right now, Texas Tech has a bit of the momentum and control over how it looks right now.

The Red Raiders have managed to win four of the last five and a win here would be nice to see. It’d give TTU a leg up in this series as they’d have more wins than West Virginia and it’d give Tech a winning record in Morgantown, which would also be enjoyable to see.
