Tim Tadlock and the Texas Tech Red Raiders baseball team are due for a good season. Or rather, the Red Raiders definitely need to bounce back a bit this season. Things haven’t gone all that smoothly for the Texas Tech baseball team in recent seasons as they’ve struggled over the past couple of years.
A program that at one point under Tadlock’s leadership had made it to Omaha and the Men’s College World Series in four out of six seasons from 2014 to 2019 hasn’t made it to a NCAA Regional since 2023.
That’s suboptimal.
And while the Red Raiders are needing to break through a bit this season, the schedule won’t be all that easy. It’s looking like a bit of a challenge. But that doesn’t seem to concern Texas Tech’s head baseball coach at all.
Red Raiders head coach Tim Tadlock doesn’t seem concerned about the challenges of the 2026 Texas Tech baseball schedule
In a recent press conference, Tadlock made it clear that he’s not at all concerned about the intricacies and difficulties that come with the 2026 Texas Tech baseball schedule.
“First of all, we put our own schedule together, so when it was released, we had already seen it for a while,” Tadlock explained, answering a question about what was on his mind with the release of the schedule.
And as he answered that schedule, Tadlock also explained his thoughts on the opening weekend challenge of facing off against the Oklahoma Sooners, Arkansas Razorbacks, and Vanderbilt Commodores in Arlington, Texas.
“I really like the challenge of going to Arlington opening weekend,” Tadlock explained. “I like the fact that it’s indoors, as long as they need to close the roof, you know you’re going to get to play the games.”
There is certainly a logistics benefit to being able to play at a ballpark that has the ability to close the roof and keep folks away from the elements.
As for what it’s like trying to navigate the fullness of a schedule?
“It’s a challenging schedule through the 56 games, any time you play a 14-week season, it’s a challenge,” Tadlock continued. “It’s a challenge to show up and play good baseball everyday. And our guys are looking forward to that.”
