Given the struggles of both teams this season, it is safe to say that the eyes of the nation were not on Sunday's matchup between the Miami Dolphins and the N.Y. Jets. However, plenty of Texas Tech football fans were keeping tabs on that AFC East matchup given how many Red Raider alums were involved.
The star of the day was Miami wide receiver Caleb Douglas. He had touchdown receptions of seven and 63 yards, the first two scores of his NFL career.
Douglas was targeted only three times on the day, but he made the most of his two receptions. In fact, his long 4th-quarter TD proved to be the decisive score in the game as Miami picked up its first win of 2026, 28-25.
This was the first time Douglas had played since September 20, which was the second week of the NFL season. He had missed the previous three games due to an ankle injury.
Caleb Douglas took this one all the way.

When Douglas has been able to take the field, he's been impactful for the Dolphins. In week one, he hauled in five catches for 94 yards against the Las Vegas Raiders, and in week two, he caught two passes for 19 yards against the San Francisco 49ers.
Even though he's missed half of Miami's games this season, he's still third on the team in receiving yards. That's impressive for the rookie 3rd round pick.
Of course, Miami's defense is led by another Texas Tech rookie, Jacob Rodriguez. Sunday, he recorded only four tackles, a season low.
Still, he's among the league leaders in tackles. In fact, he entered Sunday fourth in the NFL in that category.
While Rodriguez was quiet against the Jets, veteran Texas Tech alum Jordyn Brooks was a force. He led the Dolphins with nine tackles, five of which were solo and two of which went for a loss.
This year, Brooks has been credited with 51 tackles in six games. That means he's on pace for his sixth 100-tackle season in a row.
On the other sideline was rookie New York outside linebacker David Bailey. He had a nice effort with four tackles and 0.5 sacks.
So far, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft has lived up to the hype. He's been credited with 5.5 sacks, 31 tackles, and three forced fumbles.
The meeting between the Dolphins and Jets was never going to set the NFL world on fire given that neither team has won more than two games this year. However, it was a showcase for Texas Tech products, especially members of the 2026 draft class who showed that the Texas Tech pipeline to the NFL is going strong.
