Friday afternoon and evening was pretty busy across the conference as seven college softball games featuring Big 12 teams were played. Heck, we even got to see some Big 12 softball teams manage to play twice (shoutout to late season doubleheaders).

And with the games happening across the conference, we got to see a little bit of everything. Some run-rule wins, some easy victories (and lopsided defeats), and even a shutout or two (or three).

Let’s take a quick look at everything that happened in the Big 12 on Friday.

Big 12 softball rundown: Shutouts, run rule wins, and a doubleheader split headline a busy 7-game Friday

Before we get into anything else, let’s talk about the series that most Texas Tech fans are interested in above everything else.

Arguably the biggest series of the weekend got started later in the evening as the Texas Tech Red Raiders went to Tempe and handed the Arizona State Sun Devils a 6-0 defeat. The Red Raiders got a complete game effort from Kaitlyn Terry who struck out seven batters while Taylor Pannell and Desirae Spearman each hit two-run home runs.

Kansas and Iowa State actually split a couple of games thanks to the nature of doubleheaders. In Lawrence, the Jayhawks managed to run rule Iowa State in game one but then the Cyclones secured a 4-1 win in game two.

Over in Waco, the Oklahoma State Cowgirls managed to keep their winning going as they beat the Baylor Bears 4-2. Meanwhile, in Salt Lake City, Utah got the chance to hand the BYU Cougars a 9-0 shutout beating to continue making the Cougars’ season worse.

The Big 12’s second best team in Arizona managed to beat the Houston Cougars 9-1 in a quick, run rule matchup and then the UCF Knights were shutout in a non-conference matchup with the Florida Gators.
