Tim Tadlock and the Texas Tech Red Raiders are back in Lubbock today and they’re looking to get back on track. After a rough weekend that was full of frustrating losses at the hands of the TCU Horned Frogs, Texas Tech now needs to find a way to get some momentum before getting back into conference play.

Facing a team like the Abilene Christian Wildcats at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park feels like a great opportunity to do just that.

At 16-11 overall and 4-5 in Big 12 play, Texas Tech can’t afford to slip up much more if the Red Raiders are going to make something of this season. And returning home might be a huge boost in that direction for the Texas Tech baseball team. The Red Raiders are 13-3 in Lubbock this season and they’ve been able to really punish opposing pitchers when playing at home.

Adam Hayes appears to be getting the start for Texas Tech as his name is listed in the pregame notes where Texas Tech shares its projected starters. Given the way Hayes pitched a week ago against New Mexico, tossing five scoreless innings, it seems like he might be the perfect sort of starter for the Red Raiders today.

Texas Tech will be facing an ACU team that is 15-3 on the season, but the Red Raiders probably shouldn’t overlook the Wildcats given the overall issues that Texas Tech has with its pitching staff. Texas Tech’s 7.53 ERA is by far the worst in the Big 12 and the Red Raiders seemingly have all sorts of problems when it comes to the bullpen.

We’ll see how it plays out. The Wildcats currently have a bit of momentum after taking their series from the McNeese State baseball team in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
