Things haven’t really gone right for Tim Tadlock and the Texas Tech baseball team this season. So much of this year has been wasted because the Red Raiders can’t seem to figure out how to slow down opposing lineups. And that’s a major problem. Texas Tech’s pitching staff is dismal.

And now the Red Raiders are set to meet up with the Baylor Bears, who also aren’t all that impressive, in a three-game series in Waco starting on Friday.

Texas Tech enters this series with a seven-game Big 12 losing streak. The Red Raiders are 2-7 in conference play. While Baylor has been unimpressive for much of this season, it’s still clear that this isn’t going to be an easy matchup for the Red Raiders.

Everything you need to watch the Texas Tech Red Raiders baseball team vs. the Baylor Bears in Friday’s Game 1 matchup

Here’s what you need to know to keep up with Texas Tech as the Red Raiders face Baylor in Game 1:

  • Who: Texas Tech Red Raiders (22-22 overall, 6-15 Big 12) at Baylor Bears (23-21 overall, 9-12 Big 12)
  • When: Friday, May 1, 2026 at 6:30 p.m.
  • Where: Waco, Texas
  • Venue: Magnolia Field at Baylor Ballpark
  • TV Channel: ESPN+
  • Live stream: ESPN.com/watch

In Big 12 play, the Bears are also struggling and have lost five straight Big 12 games. But again, neither of these teams are all that impressive. Texas Tech sits at No. 13 in the Big 12 standings and the Bears are tied for No. 9 in the conference.

This matchup technically has Big 12 tournament implications in play as there’s some seeding that could be impacted here. With the way they’ve played this season, it’s not exactly like either of these teams are set to win the Big 12 conference tournament though.
