Okay, I don’t think either the Texas Tech Red Raiders or the Baylor Bears have been all that impressive throughout this season. In fact, both of these college baseball teams have been pretty frustrating to try and watch. And now they’re both trying to stay alive with a shot at the Big 12 tournament while still enduring a late season slog.
Both the Texas Tech Red Raiders and the Baylor Bears have struggled when facing off against other conference foes. Heck, they’ve both just flat out struggled to win games in general. Texas Tech enters at 22-22 overall and 6-15 vs Big 12 teams. Baylor is sitting at 23-21 overall and 9-12 against Big 12 competition.
The Red Raiders have lost seven conference games in a row and are near the bottom of the league with the No. 13 spot in the conference standings. The Bears aren’t much better off as they share the No. 9 spot in the standings with the Kansas State Wildcats and the Utah Utes.
Given that only 12 teams will make it to the Big 12 tournament, this game actually has an impact on who will make it. And Texas Tech really needs to get some conference wins to make that plausible.
Texas Tech baseball heads to Waco to face Baylor as the Red Raiders try to keep Big 12 tournament hopes alive
Texas Tech enters this game with a pretty solid batting average and the ability to drive in runs, but the Red Raiders pitching staff has truly struggled all season long. Texas Tech has a .351 batting average and has managed to hit 49 home runs, but opposing batters have racked up a .311 batting average and have hit 78 home runs.
Baylor doesn’t exactly have a great batting average at .262, but it seems plausible that the Red Raiders pitching staff will allow them to score some runs when these two teams face off this weekend.
