Texas Tech fans are jumping for joy over College GameDay guest picker reveal

No. 8 Texas Tech is set to host No. 7 BYU this week in the biggest showdown the Big 12 has seen yet this season. With such a big matchup on the books, College GameDay will be in Lubbock this weekend, which just so happens to be the same weekend as the Kansas City Chiefs' bye week.

Some may wonder why that would be a big deal, but Red Raider fans know that it means there was a real possibility that former quarterback Patrick Mahomes could be named the guest picker for the show, and they are overjoyed to get their wish. That is right, Patrick Mahomes will be the guest picker in Lubbock this weekend, certainly repping the Red Raiders gear.

Mahomes is by far the best athlete to come out of Texas Tech in years, especially when you look at what he has done in his professional career. This is going to be a huge game for the Red Raiders, so it only made sense to get the biggest guest picker they could.

There really wasn't any doubt, especially with the Chiefs being on bye this week. It is always great to see such amazing alumni come back and do stuff like this.

No better way to spend the bye week than going home and being in the place where it all started.
