Texas Tech basketball fans have every right to be absolutely thrilled with the state of the Red Raiders right now. The No. 16 team entered the day with a tough road trip out west to meet up with the No. 1 ranked team in the country in the Arizona Wildcats.

Arizona, fresh off a loss, was looking to bounce back and move forward with what has been an absolutely dominant season for the Wildcats. And instead, the Texas Tech Red Raiders, led by JT Toppin (who had a phenomenal showing as he scored 31 points on the road), managed to go into Tucson and hand the Wildcats a three-point defeat in overtime.

It’s huge for Texas Tech. The Red Raiders are rolling with a fair bit of momentum now and it’s clear that they’ve got a pretty high ceiling when they’re playing up to their full potential this season.

In case you didn’t notice, Texas Tech basketball fans are thrilled. As they should be! The Red Raiders haven’t always demonstrated just how good they can be throughout this season, but it sure feels like they are seemingly hitting their stride at the right time.

The Red Raiders are now positioned well to go down the final stretch of the regular season and continue building on a resume that is already really strong and impressive. Texas Tech has shown just how good it can be and that includes beating the No. 1 team in the country on their own home court in overtime.

Grant McCasland should be over the moon with the way his team is performing right now. If Texas Tech can just finish out the regular season strong, then the Red Raiders’ resume for postseason seeding will be really, really impressive.
