Well, JT Toppin is out for the remainder of the season. The Texas Tech Red Raiders won’t have their leading scorer as news is now out that he’s dealing with a season ending injury. Grant McCasland and the Red Raiders are now tasked with figuring out what’s next and how to move on as Toppin now has to prioritize recovering and resting.
The injury is brutal and Texas Tech fans sure seem angry and heartbroken and frustrated about it all. They also generally seem to be concerned for Toppin as well.
Here’s what Texas Tech fans are saying about JT Toppin’s injury after the shocking road loss against the Arizona State Sun Devils.
Texas Tech fans show support for JT Toppin as the Red Raiders’ leading scorer is set to miss the rest of the season

It’s not a shock that Texas Tech fans are upset about this. On top of the obvious on-court impact that comes with these sorts of injuries and this coming with a major impact to the Red Raiders’ chances of competing for a national title down the stretch of the season, this is also an incredibly difficult injury for Toppin to have to navigate personally.
Couldn’t sleep last night worried about JT Toppin. Many prayers were said last night and I will continue to pray for comfort, strength and healing for Toppin. He is a special person and one of us forever. ❤️🖤Much love Wynn

I’m so sad. Watching you play, JT… just AWESOME! You bring so much pride to Red Raider Nation. I know you won’t quit until you’re back 100%, and we won’t quit loving and supporting you in all you do. Stay strong and heal up. Basketball needs you. ❤️👆🏻🖤

Some are choosing optimism though.
Feel really bad for JT. Was having a generational season for tech.

But, I believe in McCasland, and I believe in Christian Anderson, Donovan Atwell, & Jaylen Petty. This team will still win a couple tournament games, maybe more. Just gonna need more out of Horner & Moseley.
Prayers up for JT. Helluva a basketball player and even better kid to represent TTU.

This injury is awful and there’s not much good that’s coming from it right now, but there is something to be said about the way folks are showing support for Toppin in the midst of what he’s dealing with and what is up ahead for him.
There is something at least a little refreshing about the hope and care that is being shared here. The well wishes and prayers and thoughts and messages are a bit of a bright spot here. And here’s to hoping that Toppin is going to be able to recover fully as he moves forward with his career.
