There is one major hole on the 2025-26 Texas Tech basketball roster. After adding impact players at numerous positions, the point guard spot is an area that needs to be addressed. Now, it is being reported that the answer might come in the form of an international star.

On Friday's edition of the Locked On Texas Tech Podcast, host Casey Cowan and Texas Tech basketball radio color analyst Chris Level discussed the possibility of the Red Raiders adding Australian point guard Ben Henshall to the program.

Level pointed out that Henshall is going through the NBA Draft process just like Texas Tech forward Darrion Williams. However, if he doesn't stay in the draft, he could wind up coming to the college ranks.

"...I think Florida and Texas Tech are heavily in the mix if he were to pull his name out of the draft and stay in college," Level said. "I think this is a...I can't pretend to know the amount of the ticket, but I would say this is an expensive ticket."

For the last two seasons, Henshall has played for Perth in the Australian NBL. Soon to turn 21 years old, he has averaged 7.3 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in 44 career games in that league. That included averages of 9.8 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game in 28 games in 2024-25.

What makes Henshall such an intriguing prospect is his size. He's a 6-foot-5 point guard, something that makes scouts and coaches at all levels drool.

That height and his experience at the international level are why he would command a huge NIL deal in the NCAA. Still, if Texas Tech is serious about pursuing a national title next season, this is a player who might be worth breaking the bank for.

If that happens, though, it would almost certainly put an end to the dream of getting Williams to come back to Lubbock. In fact, in the above podcast episode, Level mentioned that Williams is a candidate to wind up at Kansas (something we've already discussed the possibility of as well).

Henshall might be more likely to land at Florida if the NIL offer is relatively equal between Texas Tech and the Gators. That's because he has a relationship with Alex Condon, Florida's 6-foot-11 Australian center. In fact, Condon and Henshall played together in Australia for a period of time.

With that being said, Texas Tech is still going to play this out and see if it can bring this potential game-changer to Lubbock. So Red Raider fans need to keep their eyes peeled in the upcoming days and weeks as Henshall emerges on the radar.
