Today, the Texas Tech football team could do the most Texas Tech thing ever. After two absolutely gutting losses in a row, one to Baylor that saw Tech fail to put up much of a fight at home and one against TCU that saw the Red Raiders fumble away a game they led by 17 points in the third quarter, Tech now can play spoiler in the Big 12 by taking down No. 11 Iowa State on the road.

It would be "typical Tech" to lose two games in the way the Red Raiders did the past two weeks and then turn around and stun the country by spoiling the Cyclones' undefeated season. And Texas Tech fans are trying to talk themselves into optimism.

What's more, the team is going back to the same uniform combination that it wore in Ames in 2022. That year, the Red Raiders knocked off the Cyclones 14-10 on a brutally cold night in Iowa.

Of course, it is November which has traditionally been kind to Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire. In each of the past two seasons, he's led the program to a 3-1 record in the season's final month. Red Raider fans are hoping for more of that magic today.

If the Red Raiders can win, it would be the first time the Red Raiders have knocked off an opponent ranked in the top 10 in one of the national polls (ISU is 11th in the AP poll and 10th in the coaches poll) on the road since 2011 when beating No. 3 Oklahoma in Norman. Still, some Red Raiders think this could be the day that Tech turns the college football world upside down by beating a playoff favorite.

On the other hand, many Red Raider fans know that the task ahead of the team today is daunting. Thus, optimism among some is tougher to come by.

Regardless of how each fan feels, it is another game day in Raiderland and those are special. Therefore, Texas Tech fans across the country will tune in to see if their team can do the improbable and be an agent of chaos in the college football landscape.
