So much attention this offseason has gone towards the way the Texas Tech Red Raiders loaded up on defensive stars through the transfer portal. So much focus has been on the way that Joey McGuire and the Texas Tech coaching staff have emphasized improving the way the Red Raiders operate on defense.

Now we need to talk about the way Texas Tech went out and found a phenomenal and exceptionally productive tight end in the transfer portal to come in and boost up the potential on offense for the Red Raiders.

Terrance Carter Jr., a former 4-star tight end that arrived in Lubbock ready to help out with Texas Tech’s offense, is being recognized by the folks over at Pro Football Focus among the best returning tight ends in the Big 12 ahead of this season.

Here’s the group of tight ends that PFF is recognizing prior to the 2025 college football season:

And here is how Texas Tech fans are celebrating Carter and his potential heading into this season:

It’s great to see Texas Tech fans celebrating this one.

I mean, we’ve talked so much about all of the impressive potential that the Red Raiders have on the defensive side of the ball that it’s felt strange not talking about the offense any.

And now we’ve got another excuse to talk about the potential of Texas Tech’s offense. Which, as always, seems to be pretty impressive yet again.

It’s going to be fun to see what the Red Raiders can accomplish this season.

I noted how there has been a point of emphasis on improving things on the defense and it’s generally expected that Tech will have a productive and potent offense. If you can get a drastically improved defense to go alongside a productive offense, then this year might be a ton of fun for Texas Tech fans.
