It’s not totally surprising that the Texas Tech Lady Raiders aren’t going to end the season with an unbeaten and unblemished record, but it is absolutely disappointing that Texas Tech wasn’t able to defend its home court on Saturday when facing a team that is barely above .500 on the season.

As the Texas Tech women’s basketball team met up with the Kansas State Wildcats in Lubbock, the Lady Raiders fell short and experienced their first defeat of the season, falling 65-59 to a K-State team that is now 10-9 overall and 3-3 in Big 12 play.

That’s far from good. Texas Tech was beaten on the boards by a terrifying margin of 46-20 which is certainly part of why the Wildcats won the second chance points battle by a margin of 14-3. It’s also worth pointing out the fact that Kansas State had double the points in the paint that Texas Tech did (28 to 14).

The Lady Raiders played some dreadful basketball in this loss and it’s not shocking that Texas Tech basketball fans aren’t thrilled about that.

Texas Tech women’s basketball fans react as the Lady Raiders suffered their first loss of the season vs. Kansas State

Here’s what Texas Tech fans had to say following the Lady Raiders’ loss at home against the Kansas State Wildcats:

A few folks were more than upset about the refs in this game. I mean, there’s no way that that’s the only reason why Texas Tech fell short on Saturday against the Wildcats, but I get why folks aren’t happy with them following the Lady Raiders’ loss.

A couple of huge reasons for Texas Tech’s first defeat? The horrendous rebounding margin that Kansas State won with absolute ease. That’s a huge issue. As is the shooting in Saturday’s game for Texas Tech. The Lady Raiders have absolutely got to figure those things out for this season to be something successful.

It is important to remember that the season is far from over. There’s plenty of basketball left to be played, but the Lady Raiders absolutely have to figure out how to get back to winning sooner rather than later. Stuff like Saturday’s performance vs. Kansas State can’t continue.
