The Texas Tech football program is recruiting at an unprecedented level over the past two classes. In fact, the 2027 class is shaping up to be the best the Red Raiders have ever hauled in. One of the standouts of that recruiting haul is running back SaRod Baker, who has set social media on fire with one of the most amazing touchdown runs we will see all season.

Baker and his DeSoto team recently held a scrimmage against North Forney High School. With his team backed up to its own 1-yard line, the 5-foot-9, 196-pounder took off for a 99-yard touchown run.

However, that doesn't tell the entire story of his run. What makes the play noteworthy is that at the three-yard line, Baker broke through two defenders who tried to tackle him at the same time.

Then, at the 10, he was swarmed by at least four North Forney defenders. That wasn't enough to bring Baker down, though, as he spun out of that pile and tightroped the sideline.

Keeping his balance, Baker then broke into the open field, where he stepped out of a few shoestring tackle attempts by pursuing defenders. After that, he cut back toward the sideline and darted into the end zone.

That type of run showcases the type of versatility that has made Baker one of the nation's top running back recruits. In one play, he showed power, balance, speed, and vision on his way to a remarkable touchdown. It is no wonder he is such a prized recruit for the Red Raiders.

Baker is a recruit Texas Tech fans should be excited about

In a class featuring two five-star defensive linemen, one of whom is Jalen Brewster, the nation's top overall player, a 4-star recruit like Baker might not get the publicity he deserves. However, he is one of the best running backs in America.

According to 247Sports.com, he is the No. 71 overall player and the No. 4 running back in his class. That makes him the fourth-highest-ranked high school player set to join Texas Tech when the current recruiting class signs in December.

In all, Tech's 2027 class has ten five or four-star players in it. That's by far the most in the Big12.

When he arrives, Baker will join a deep Red Raider running back room. This year's top three running backs, Cam Dickey, Ja'Koby Williams, and Quentin Joyner, all have multiple years of eligibility remaining.

Also, the team has welcomed former 4-star recruit Ashton Rowden into the RB rotation this fall. Much is expected of the Texarkana product given that he was a top-20 national running back in the class of 2026.

In other words, Texas Tech has put itself in a great position at the running back spot for years to come. And now, after seeing what Baker is capable of, Tech fans have another standout commit to follow this season.
