Folks, it’s starting to look more and more likely that Brendan Sorsby won’t get a chance to play for the Texas Tech Red Raiders moving forward.

I mean, not that any of this is shocking, breaking news or anything along those lines. I don’t think anyone really expected the NCAA to decide to give the Texas Tech quarterback his requested reinstatement as they investigated the whole gambling situation that Sorsby was connected to.

But still, it’s not exactly the best sort of news for the Red Raiders. Texas Tech sought out Sorsby to try and elevate the offense. He’s a dual threat who would have thrived in Mack Leftwich’s system and there’s a good chance that he could have helped Texas Tech get right back into the College Football Playoff with ease.

However, the NCAA isn’t exactly keen on giving Sorsby a shot to play this season. Instead, they’ve made the decision to deny Sorsby eligibility to play. Unsurprisingly, Texas Tech’s university president doesn’t love that decision.

I mean, yeah, I can totally understand why he wouldn't be a fan of that sort of choice from the NCAA. And it looks like Texas Tech fans aren’t all that thrilled with that choice either.

Texas Tech fans speak up after the NCAA denies eligibility for Red Raiders quarterback Brendan Sorsby

Here’s what Texas Tech football fans had to say about the NCAA’s choice to deny Sorsby’s eligibility request.

Look, it’s hard to argue with this one. Seems like sound logic to me. I think. Maybe. Possibly.

This fight isn’t quite over yet, but how much longer will it actually be able to go on? There’s a court date set in Lubbock County for June 1. Is that something that will yield results that the Red Raiders will be happy with?

Or is it just simply time for Texas Tech to move on and figure out how to move forward until Will Hammond is healthy enough to play for the Red Raiders?

Who knows how all of this will play out.

Will the legal battle go in Sorsby's favor? How healthy is Hammond and how quickly will he be able to play for the Red Raiders? Will we see Kirk Francis leading Texas Tech’s offense and how will that go for the Red Raiders? Can Shiel Wood’s defense do enough this coming season to help the Red Raiders offset the need for a great offense?
