I think it’s great that the Texas Tech Red Raiders and the Colorado Buffaloes are back in the same conference. It’s great to see these two teams that helped get the Big 12 established and set up back together in the Big 12 once more.
And while there’s not a meeting for the Texas Tech Red Raiders football team and the CU Buffs on the schedule for the 2025 season, I’m encouraged that we’re going to see these two teams meet up more regularly as we move forward.
There aren’t a ton of meetings in the past between the Red Raiders and the Buffaloes, but we have seen some solid Big 12 matchups that have been entertaining at times and we’ve got a conference record that is currently in Colorado’s favor.
I, for one, would like to see Texas Tech chip away at that 3-5 Big 12 matchup lead that’s in Colorado’s favor and then one day claim a series lead here.
Texas Tech football history: Texas Tech just barely trails the Colorado Buffaloes in series history
Right now, Texas Tech is down by just one game in the overall series. Yes, there’s that 3-5 Big 12 matchup advantage in Colorado’s favor, but in overall history, TTU has five wins against Colorado while the Buffaloes have six wins vs. the Red Raiders.
When the two teams get to meet up in 2026, that’s a prime opportunity for the Red Raiders to even up the overall series (as well as get Texas Tech’s second ever win on the road against Colorado).
The most recent matchup (and actually several of the last 10 games between these two teams) went in Colorado’s favor as the Buffs beat TTU 41-27 in 2024. Prior to that, the last time these two teams met was all the way back in 2010 as the Red Raiders got their first ever win in Boulder, Colorado by getting a 27-24 win.
For now, we’ll have to wait until 2026 to see these two teams match up once more (unless they get to face off against each other in the Big 12 Championship Game this season, that is).
