Folks, I think it’s important to point out that the Texas Tech Red Raiders have literally never lost a single game against the UCF Knights. It’s never happened. Throughout the entirety of the history of Texas Tech Red Raider football, we’ve never once seen TTU fall short against UCF. It just hasn’t ever happened! That’s worth celebrating, I think.

Heck, on top of that, the Red Raiders have also never once lost against UCF since the Knights made the move into the Big 12. Unbeaten against UCF all time. Unbeaten against UCF since they joined the Big 12. That’s fantastic stuff that we should certainly celebrate and fully embrace.

As a head coach, Joey McGuire has never fallen short against UCF. We’re talking about a guy that, since he became the head man in Lubbock, has managed to always get a win over UCF in literally every chance he’s had.

Absolutely nothing wrong with enjoying that fact.

Okay, yeah, we do need to acknowledge one little thing though. Texas Tech has only played against UCF on one occasion. Throughout the entire history of Texas Tech football, we’re talking about just one game between the Red Raiders and the Knights.

Texas Tech football history: Let’s enjoy the fact that Texas Tech has literally never lost against the UCF Knights

The first (and last and only) meeting between UCF and Texas Tech happened back in 2023 when the Red Raiders welcomed Gus Malzahn and the Knights to Lubbock. In that game, UCF jumped out to a two touchdown lead and then ended up squandering that lead as the Red Raiders scored 21 points unanswered.

Texas Tech went on to beat UCF by just one point, winning the 2023 matchup between these two teams by a score of 24-23.

Now, in 2025, we’re going to see the second ever meeting between the Red Raiders and the Knights. We won’t see Texas Tech face Gus Malzahn as he’s no longer at UCF, but we will see the Red Raiders meet up with Scott Frost in his return to Orlando. And here’s to hoping that Texas Tech will remain unbeaten vs. the Knights.
