Over the years, the Texas Tech football team has plucked many excellent players out of the state of Oklahoma. Hopefully, they pulled that trick again on Friday when they secured a verbal commitment from Bixby, Oklahoma native Cord Nolan.

A 6-foot-1, 195-pound linebacker, Nolan announced his intention to become a Red Raider with a post on X. In that post, he thanked Jesus, his parents, coaches, and teammates. What's more, he correctly referred to Texas Tech as "Texas Tech University" rather than "the University of Texas Tech", as so many high school recruits often say when talking about an offer from Tech.

Nolan is not yet rated by 247Sports.com. However, both Rivals.com and On3Sports.com have him listed as a 3-star prospect.

According to Rivals, Nolan is the No. 12 player in Oklahoma and No. 46 linebacker in America for the class of 2026. Meanwhile, On3 ranks him No. 8 overall in Oklahoma and No. 66 nationally among all linebackers.

On 247Sports, Nolan's offer list includes Arizona State, Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, and others.

Playing for one of the top high school programs in Oklahoma, Nolan had a great junior season in 2024. He was credited with 108 total tackles, five sacks, and an interception last fall.

The Red Raiders now have six high school players in the fold for 2026. Currently, all of them call the defensive side of the ball home. As of Friday afternoon, that class sits at No. 27 overall and No. 5 in the Big 12, according to 247Sports.
