In 2025, we’re going to see Joey McGuire and the Texas Tech Red Raider football team get their second ever meeting with the UCF Knights late in the season.

The Knights, one of the newest members of the Big 12 following the conference’s expansions and additions of new teams, will be headed to Lubbock in the middle of November to face off against a team that it has only met up with on one other occasion.

These two teams are in very different places entering this season as UCF is in the midst of a rebuild with a brand new head coach (who isn’t exactly actually totally brand new in that Scott Frost has been the head coach of the Knights previously) and Texas Tech will be looking to make a run to the Big 12 championship this season.

So this second ever meeting between these two teams could get interesting, especially if it happens to be closer than what Texas Tech fans would ever be comfortable with.

2025 Texas Tech football schedule: When will the Red Raiders face the UCF Knights?

On November 15, the Knights will make their second ever trip to Lubbock to face off against the Red Raiders, which will provide Texas Tech with a chance to get another home win over UCF since the Knights migrated into the Big 12.

The first ever meeting between Texas Tech and the Knights came back in 2023 when Joey McGuire’s Red Raiders were able to secure a solid, 24-23 comeback win over Gus Malzahn’s Knights.

Now, given how far Texas Tech has come under McGuire’s guidance in recent seasons, hopefully the 2025 edition of this game will be a bit more lopsided in TTU’s favor. The Red Raiders absolutely should not struggle in the way that they did back in 2023. We’ll see what happens soon enough.
