Recruiting has been a ton of fun for the Texas Tech football program lately. Time and time again over the entirety of this offseason up to this point, Joey McGuire and the Texas Tech Red Raiders are able to pick up talented players to bring to Lubbock. The most recent? A 4-star wide receiver by the name of Chase Campbell.
Campbell is among the most talented players in the state of Texas as part of the 2026 recruiting cycle and it’s absolutely fantastic to see the Red Raiders get a commitment from him. That’s especially true when you consider that Texas Tech beat out half the Big 12 (and a bunch of other teams) to get Campbell to commit to play for the Red Raiders.
That, my friends, is FANTASTIC news to be able to talk about. And talk about it we shall. Let’s examine the group of teams that reportedly offered Campbell but didn’t end up getting him.

Taking a look through all of the teams that apparently offered Campbell (according to 247 Sports) and you’ll find that many high profile programs wanted the dude on their roster.
But let’s focus in on the Big 12 for a moment.
Because that’s where Texas Tech is and the Red Raiders managed to beat out the likes of the following Big 12 teams for this commitment:
- Dave Aranda and the Baylor Bears
- Mike Gundy and the Oklahoma State Cowboys
- Chris Klieman and the Kansas State Wildcats
- Kyle Whittingham and the Utah Utes
- Brent Brennan and the Arizona Wildcats
- Kenny Dillingham and the Arizona State Sun Devils
- Willie Fritz and the Houston Cougars
- Sonny Dykes and the TCU Horned Frogs
That’s a pretty solid list of teams to beat out! And we can also throw in teams like the Arkansas Razorbacks, Ole Miss Rebels, Tennessee Volunteers, and Missouri Tigers out of the SEC, if you want.
